Morality and values depend on the existence of conscious minds, and specially on the fact that such minds can experience various forms of well being and suffering in the universe. Moral values are not rules, they are values that express ideas about good life. Every moral norm is based on a moral value.
Many of us think that moral values and moral norms are same so let me tell you that they are not same. Moral norms are set and then externally imposed and moral values are something in and of man himself. They are not the object of concrete actions. They are reflected in the manner in which we carry out those actions. They are imbibed through culture, religion, teachers, traditions, society and parents. Moral values find peace through conflict resolutions and prevention and healthy relationships that resolve conflicts.
They build our character in a good or positive manner and help others to take right decisions. Besides this if we talk about ethics, through which we can direct our life in a good or bad manner. Ethics guide us in our every problem or moment. We can also say that it is branch of knowledge that deals with moral principles. It seeks to resolve questions of human morality by defining concepts such as good and evil, virtue and vice etc.
It is rightly said that with so many values around, ethics are still missing. With so many people around, loyalty is still a question mark, not a surprise but a truth of living, with everything coming back in trend, innocence is still in demand. Ethics, values, morality and attitude are related to each other.
There are some moral values that you can imbibe in yourself:
Respectfulness
Adjustment
Religiousness
Honesty
Compassionate
Forgiveness
Kindness
Mental strength
Trustworthiness
Responsibility
These are some values which are extremely important for everyone. It guides your path and save from the darkness. Life is a mix of a lot of experiences, journeys, failures, achievements and when one has values and morals steering his/her actions, life becomes easy and a happy story.
If we talk about ethics then there are some principles of ethics:
Honesty
Integrity
Loyalty
Promise- keeping
Caring
Law abiding
Leadership
The need for ethics arose from conflict what is yours, mine or ours. It is the difference between how people do act and how people ought to act.
It is rightly said by Henry Travis that if you don’t have integrity, you have nothing. You can’t buy it. You can have all the money in the world, but if you are not a moral and ethical person, you really have nothing.
In the end I only want to say that ethics serve as a guide to moral daily living and help us judge whether our behavior can be justified.
