What is a Group Discussion?

Group discussion is a very important aspect of group communication. Group discussion is a creative and dynamic activity. Group discussion may be defined as an activity in which a small number of persons meet face to face, exchange and share ideas freely or attempt to reach a decision on a common issue.

 

What are the skills that are judged in a Group Discussion?

The group discussion technique is a very effective way to judge candidate's ability to work in a group. Given below is the list of qualities judged during a Group Discussion.

 •How easily you behave and interact with the other group members?

 •How open-minded you are?

 •How flexible or rigid you are in accepting the viewpoints of others in the group?

 Don't of Group Discussion

•Don't lose your temper. It is a group discussion, not an argument.

•Don't speak loudly or aggressively.

•Always use a moderate tone and a medium pitch.

• Don't divert from the topic.

• Don't change your opinion.

• Don't make fun of any participant even if his/ her arguments are funny.
