Most of the students have confusion about the colour of various substances. They don't know what is the reason behind the colour of various substances. So in this block I am going to discuss the cause of the colour of the various substances.
1. White colour of milk is due to the presence of Protein casein in it.
2. Red colour of blood it is due to the presence of hemoglobin in blood.
3. Green colour of leaves is due to the presence of pigment chlorophyll
4. Different colour of flowers is due to the pigment anthocynin.
5. Blue colour of sky is due to the scattering of blue colour.
6. Colour of skin is due to the pigment melanin.
7. Colour of hair is due to the pigment melanin.
8. Colour of soil is influenced by the the moisture content, minirin composition and organic content.
9. Metal is due to the wavelength of light which day observed and re -emit.
10. Colour of dye: A dye is an organic compound which can dissolve a certain portion of the visible light. The rest of the light is reflected. The colour of the light gives the colour to the dye which is complementary to the colour of the light absorbed.
